Circular Dining Table

In this modern and contemporary age, a circular dining table is compulsory in every home. This particular furniture can be made from wood, stone, metal or even glass.  

Circular dining tables are often small in size. However, there are bigger sized ones that can allow up to 8 to 12 people. These would be the 72-inch diameter ones. But for the most part, circle dining chairs are commonly found in smaller diameters.

In terms of design, it is common to see their table legs come in pedestal and not the cross-legged type.

Types

There are 2 types of circular dining tables, small and big ones.

Smaller circular dining table

Smaller circle tables will be sized at 12 inches or so. These smaller round tables are usually shorter too.

They are best used for the following purposes:

• outdoor (patio, garden)
• living room coffee table
• putting lamp
• putting flower vase
• putting picture frames
• small end table
• beside a sitting chair

48-inch circular table or bigger

If you are thinking about a proper table for dining, you must go for a higher diameter one. At the very least, a 48-inch diameter table can have 4 people sitting together. Of course, above 48 inches, more people can sit and dine together. It is not recommended that you squeeze with 3 other persons (4 persons in total) on a 30-inch table. You also have to remember the bigger the table, the more expensive it is. When you need to dine with many people, always go for 48 inches in diameter or more.

Benefits

With a circular dining table, you can save a little bit more space compared to a square table top.

There is less danger of incurring an injury because of knocking the hard corner in a rectangle or square table. In this sense, circular tables are safer.

It brings your family close together. Circular table tops are less formal. It is relaxed. Everyone can dine within close proximity. In other words, there is no "separation factor". Instead, it increases the "togetherness factor", making it a great dining table choice for any family.

Tips

For small circular tables, it is more affordable to buy online because of its lower weight. Compared to paying a lot for shipping fees for bigger tables, you won't pay as much when you order a round dining table. The catch is, you have to assemble the table yourself when the package is delivered to your home. Current dining tables are mostly assembled by using bolts.

Think about the table height when deciding on either a small or big one. For example, a coffee table does not need to be very tall if your living room chair is low. Likewise, if your dining chairs are tall, you should make sure there is enough height for you to sit properly.

Small circular dining tables often have a flat platform underneath the table top, which is called a shelf. On this shelf, you can put extra items like magazines, books, TV remote control and so on.

For larger circular tables, you could use dining chairs which are round and do not have handles. This way, you can generate more space and allow for more people to sit together.
