French Dining Table

A French dining table is perhaps best known by its slightly curved legs (cabriole legs) and feminine features. If you notice, almost all European tables have unique table leg shapes and designs.

That's not all. The tables all have personality of their own. Beautiful and elegant motifs are carved and made present on the table parts. If you take the time to appreciate and notice, you will know that any French furniture has been carefully handcrafted with much thought. This includes the French dining table. The detailed and fine designs make the table look majestic on its own, yet the table gives off a certain feminine aura.

French dining tables are made from wood and nothing else. They are considered as classic rather than antiques.

Note: The difference between French provincial dining table and a French dining table is non-existent. These are merely 2 different terms that are used to describe the same thing.

A French style dining table can come in many shapes. These include the rectangle, round and oval shapes for the tabletops.

Types

There are a few types of French kitchen tables.

French oak dining table

For this type, the eating table is specifically made from French oak wood. French oak wood is the equivalent of European wood. They are the same type of wood. But there is a difference between French oak and the American oak. The former has a darker brown color with straight wood grains. Note that these are hardwood, which is ideal for sturdy table construction.

French farmhouse dining table

This rectangular table type has 4 table legs at all corners. Some of them might come with a stretcher base (a piece of wood connecting both sides of the legs). Keep in mind that they are all rectangle in shape. Other common but similar terms to the French farmhouse are the antique French dining table and French country dining table.

Benefits

If you like a highly "decorated" table with deep character, unique designs, majestic shapes and feminine qualities, you should go for a French dining table.

There is simply no other reason to buy it other than its superior aesthetics. Among all classic furniture types, the French ones are arguably the best when it comes to functionality and appearance. You can't argue that they are pleasing to the eyes.

Tips

Don't skip the proper dining chair type for the French kitchen table. Get the appropriate French dining chair set. If you rather save on the right type of dining chairs, don't buy it for the sake of the table alone. A complete French dining set (table and chairs) is what makes it produce the elegant factor.

How to identify French dining chairs? The best way to recognize one is to check whether the backrest and seat are separated or not (with a gap in between). If yes, it is most probably a French chair. The backrest and seat are padded too. More often than not, the backrest is oval shaped. If it comes in another shape, then it will be curved somewhat so that it resembles an oval shape.

It can be a bit hard to find the right manufacturer since such a table is considered a classic. Nevertheless, the effort is worth it especially if your home already sport the French architecture for its interior design.

Get your French dining table for your dining room area today. It might just become your favorite collection among all furniture at home. Visitors will be impressed you have such an excellent taste for elegant dining furniture.

Bon appétit!
