Mexican Dining Table

Burritos (a Mexican food) anyone?

When you buy a Mexican dining table, you are getting a rustic and a very economical (cost) table for your kitchen assortment.

Another similar term is the south west  or western dining table.

Features

How do they look like? The number one material being used to make these tables is pine wood, which gives off its very light brown color. This is why the price can become so low. Pine wood itself is very cheap!

Another common wood type is the walnut. Walnut is much darker than pine because it has heavy brown stains. However, both wood types (pine and walnut) are beautiful to look at when used as materials for the Mexican kitchen table.

What makes it so rustic then? Well, this is because manufacturers distress the wood to make it look more antique or old. This is done by hand using wax. This way, your new Mexican dining room table looks like it has aged for decades.

Most of these tables are rectangular in shape. Other times, you will find them to be round. However, finding a square one is as rare as finding a needle in the haystack (hard to find).

Their wood grains will be very much visible. Therefore, if you are looking for a visually strong dining table, the Mexican dining table is for you.

They have a light brown color which leans more towards the yellow side.

The table legs are usually contoured. At the bottom, they all have ball knob shapes instead of a flat leg end. Usually, you will spot carved designs on the legs too, if not the table sides.

Benefits

They are very affordable! Note that almost all Mexican dining tables are cheap. Thus, if you are tight on budget, this particular Mexican furniture is ideal for you.

Again, a perfect solution for people who want a rustic furniture in the kitchen. Get a rustic Mexican dining table!

Perfect for a relaxed evening drink. Other than dining during lunch and dinner times, you will find it is a great pleasure to have a cup of drink (coffee, beer, etc.) and chat with your friends or family. A romantic dinner for 2 can also be done with style over this table.

Dine in with expensive foods. Although it serves for casual purposes, having luxury dining is possible too.

Tips

If you are uncomfortable with the choice of colors, be sure to take samples of the wood first. This way, you can decide whether it matches your dining room area or not.

Your Mexican dining set should also include a sideboard that is made from pine wood too.

On a side note, any Mexican chair have gaps in the backrest. This creates a more antique look. This also tells you not go to too modern when selecting a chair for your Mexican dining set.

Sometimes, people will confuse a Spanish dining table with a Mexican one. Somehow, they share some similar characteristics. This can be traced back to Mexico's historical roots when Spain conquered Mexico back in the 15th century. This is why Mexican people can speak Spanish. Although they share similar culture roots at one point of time, they are 2 different tables with unique designs altogether. After reading this article, you should be able to tell which is which!

Mexican dining etiquette

Before the dinner

Believe or not, you must arrive late, not early. How late? You must arrive half an hour late to an invited dinner with a Mexican friend / family.

If the number of people is small, the host should do the introduction.

But if the number of people is big, you should introduce yourself.

Lastly, never sit down before you are told to. The host will tell you when and where to sit.

During the dinner

Only the hostess can start eating first. The rest must wait beforehand.

It is a golden rule that your hands must be seen at all times. This means, you have to position your wrists on the dining table edge while you're eating.

Only males can give toasts (holding up cups and saying cheers or something similar).

You must leave some amount of food on the plates. This means not finishing your meal completely.

Lastly, when you have finished, both your fork and knife must be positioned in such a way that the handles are facing towards the right side and the sharp ends facing downwards.

Spice up your kitchen decor with a fine Mexican dining table and your family will love you for it.

Buen provecho!
