Spanish Dining Table
When you talk about Spanish (or Espanol) dining tables, you are referring to the colonial European
design. They are considered as old world dining tables too. Spain was a very powerful country in the 16th
century. Their table designs had always been intricate and detailed. Every curves and lines are drawn and cut
nicely to form certain shapes and motives on the table.
Some may come with trestles, some may not.
90% of the time, their table legs have designs and carvings, if not curved legs.
They are only made from wood, nothing else.
You will find their designs to be rectangular in nature. This makes rectangular Spanish tables very common in
the market.
Benefits
Ever fancy a European furniture decor? Now is your chance to own one at home.
If you are looking for a table with beautiful carvings (especially the curved table legs), then you should get a
Spanish dining table.
Spanish kitchen tables have their own characteristics and flair, which makes them unique. You can't forget the
look of a the table once you dine on it once.
Dining etiquette of the Spanish people
The first rule has to deal with bread. You can never dip your bread into any soup. This is a costly violation to
the Spanish dining culture. In addition, you must use the bread as if it is a cutlery. For example, you hold the
bread using your left hand and your fork on the right. Then you prod and push the food onto your fork. Spanish
people always use their fork with the right hand and bread with the left.
Secondly, you shall not put your elbow(s) on the table. You cannot lay your hands on your lap too. Instead, you
must keep your hands visible to others who are dining together with you. This means you cannot send text messages
while dining with a Spanish friend or family.
Thirdly, the bigger sized spoons are only used for soup and beans. For desert, you must use a teaspoon, which is
smaller.
Fourthly, you cannot remain quiet. In fact, you must talk and chat in a lively manner while you are eating.
Silence is a rarity.
Fifth, you should must greet others by saying "buen provecho" or "que aproveche" whenever you arrive late for a
dining session. It basically means "bon appetit" which is "enjoy your meal".
Lastly, you should never raise your arms above your head level.
Tips
The price of a Spanish dining table will depend on the wood being used. The good news is, if you like the
antique or vintage look, you can always buy aged wood which is cheaper.
Again, if you like the old, colonial look, go for the distressed wood type.
It can be tough to find a mainstream company making tables with European, Spanish design. When buying a Spanish
dining table, smaller manufacturers are your best bet.
Buenas suerte! (Good luck)
